Will Rogers' Secret

"A magic way to win more friendships that no one can resist; even hardened criminals can be won over this way.

"I never met a man I did not like," said Will Rogers. Many people thought this was just another funny Rogers' remark, but one time when I met him with Amon Carter, of Fort Worth, I asked him, "Surely you can't like everybody?"

I knew he must meet bores, cheats, fourflushers just like the rest of us do. How can he possibly like even them?

Will was famous as a funnyman; but he was also a wise philosopher and he could be most serious when he wanted.

"Of course I don't approve of all the things that people do," he said, "but there is some goodness and some cussedness in all of us."

He continued, "If you know a man well enough you can always find something good in him and you can always find something interesting about him. It is just a matter of what you are looking for!"

"But what about the narrow-minded people? What about gossips? The people who do petty, mean little things? Do you like them, too?" I persisted.

"I once read somewhere," he said, "where someone asked Abe Lincoln that same question - why he refused to get mad at the people who abused him, ridiculed him and tried to discredit him."

"Lincoln replied that people's actions spring from their character and that many factors beyond their control went into making up their character - where they were born, the people they had associated with, and a lot of other things."

"Therefore,' said Lincoln, 'you shouldn't become angry with a person who blocks your path any more than you would with a tree which the wind blew across the road.'"

Will Rogers had no more reason for hating a person who happened to have been unfortunate enough to have acquired a habit of gossip than he did for hating a person who was foolish enough to neglect his teeth.

He didn't like gossip. Few people do; and he didn't like pettiness. He looked upon them as foolish behavior rather than evil behavior.

I am convinced that Will Rogers really did like every person he ever met.

There is an interesting thing about liking people, and that is they in turn like you. If you must start a rumor about somebody start it by saying, "I sure like that person."

This gets back to them and they say, "Well, I always liked him, too."

Another funny thing about gossip is that if they tell you things about others, you can just bet they will tell others things about you.

While there is always a temptation to listen to gossip, just remember while you are on the listening end this time with this gossiper, the next time you will be on the receiving end when the gossiper gets elsewhere.

Beware of the Gossip!

Avoid the company of the gossip. Don't give them a chance to be with you, find something out about you, then carry that story into another circle.

I am convinced that this trait of his character was largely responsible for Will Rogers being the most universally liked person I have ever heard about.

Will Rogers liked everybody and everybody liked Will Rogers!"

Amen Crackers

Have you ever heard of "Amen Crackers"? I hadn't either until my granddaughter, Amanda, came for a visit. Amanda is not quite two but ever since her parents taught her to pray she always prays for each individual thing on her plate.

One evening at suppertime Amanda was in the high chair and I went over to the kitchen counter to fill her plate. Her Mother had put three small crackers on her high chair tray to give her something to eat while I fixed her plate. I watched as she bowed her head and touched the first cracker with her index finger and said, "Amen cracker". She touched the next cracker and said, "Amen cracker", and then she went to the last cracker, touching it, and again saying, "Amen cracker". She thought the tiny crackers were her supper so she was saying her prayers.

Amanda has figured out that prayers have an "Amen" in them but sometimes she gets the "Amen" at the beginning instead of at the end of her prayers.

I got to thinking about the word, "Amen" and I found that in Hebrew the word "Amen" means to confirm and it is spoken to state, "so be it." When we end our prayers with "Amen" we are reaffirming our dedication to God. Sometimes church members or congregations say, "Amen," to show confirmation or agreement when something powerful is spoken from the Word of God.

Amanda's prayer might seem very simple but maybe she wasn't so far off in what she was doing because she would have been confirming her dedication to God first of all instead of at the end. At any rate, we can gain wisdom from "the mouths of babes." I learned several things from Amanda and her "Amen Crackers."

- I learned that prayer should be a priority.
- I learned that whatever is on my "plate" I should be thankful for it.
- I learned I should keep it simple and be specific.
- I learned to have faith and trust God even when all I have is three crackers.
- I learned it is best to tend to my own crackers that have been provided for me and allow God to fill my plate.
- I learned to be patient. Even if I'm sitting in a high chair, I can't see what is going on in God's kitchen from where I sit.
- I learned to thank God for the small things, and not complain, even if all I have is crackers.
- I learned it doesn't matter if you get the prayer backwards, God hears our hearts.

Have you thanked God for the crackers in your life?

The causes of some common diseases

In this very revealing and thought-provoking
presentation, Dr. Young helps us to to take a
clear-eyed look at how illogical current medical
thinking is about diagnosis of symptoms, naming
diseases, and then prescribing drug treatments.
If you want to know the real "CAUSE" of some
common dis-ease and disease conditions, read on!

"Disease or should we say Dis-ease names like cancer,
diabetes and osteoporosis are misleading and misinform
patients about dis-ease prevention.

There is a curious tendency in conventional medicine
to name a set of symptoms a disease. I was recently
at a compounding pharmacy having my bone mineral
density measured to update my health stats. I
spotted a poster touting a new drug for osteoporosis.
It was written by a drug company and it said
exactly this: 'Osteoporosis is a disease that causes
weak and fragile bones.' Then, the poster went on to
say that you need a particular drug to counteract this
'disease.'

Yet the language is all backwards. Osteoporosis isn't
a disease that causes weak bones, osteoporosis is
the name given to a diagnosis of weak bones. In other
words, the weak bones are the result of excess acidity,
and then the diagnosis of osteoporosis followed.

The drug poster makes it sound like osteoporosis
strikes first, and then you get weak bones. The
cause and effect is all backwards. And that's
how drug companies want people to think about
diseases and symptoms: first you 'get' the dis-ease,
and then you are 'diagnosed' just in time to take
a new drug for the rest of your life.

But it's all an illusion. There is no such
disease as osteoporosis. It's just a made-up name
given to a pattern of symptoms that indicates
you are over-acid which causes your bones to
become fragile.

As another example, when a person follows an
unhealthy lifestyle that results in a symptom
such as high blood pressure, that symptom is
actually being assumed to be a disease all by
itself and it will be given a disease name.
What disease? The dis-ease is, of course,
'hypertension' or 'high blood pressure.'
Doctors throw this phrase around as if it
were an actual dis-ease and not merely
descriptive of patient physiology.

This may all seem silly, right? But there's
actually a very important point to all this.

When we look at symptoms and give them disease
names, we automatically distort the selection
of available treatments for such a dis-ease.
If the dis-ease is, by itself, hypercholesterolemi a
or high cholesterol, then the cure for the dis-ease
must be nothing other than lowering the high
cholesterol. And that's how we end up with all
these pharmaceuticals treating high cholesterol
in order to 'prevent' this dis-ease and lower
the levels of LDL cholesterol in the human patient.

By lowering only the cholesterol, the doctor can
rest assured that he is, in fact, treating this
'disease,' since the definition of this 'disease'
is hypercholesterolemi a or high cholesterol and
nothing else.

But there is a fatal flaw in this approach to
disease treatment: the symptom is not the cause
of the dis-ease. There is another cause, and
this deeper cause is routinely ignored by
conventional medicine, doctors, drug companies,
and even patients.

Let's take a closer look at hypertension or
high blood pressure. What actually causes high
blood pressure? Many doctors would say high
blood pressure is caused by a specific, measurable
interaction between circulating chemicals in the
human body. Thus, the ill-behaved chemical
compounds are the cause of the high blood pressure,
and therefore the solution is to regulate these
chemicals. That's exactly what pharmaceuticals
do -- they attempt to manipulate the chemicals
in the body to adjust the symptoms of high blood
pressure. Thus, they only treat the symptoms,
not the root cause.

Or take a look at high cholesterol. The conventional
medicine approach says that high cholesterol is
caused by a chemical imbalance in the liver, which
is the organ that produces cholesterol. Thus the
treatment for high cholesterol is a prescription
drug that inhibits the liver's production of
cholesterol (statin drugs). Upon taking these
drugs, the high cholesterol (the 'disease')
is regulated, but what was causing the liver to
overproduce cholesterol in the first place?
That causative factor remains ignored.

The root cause of high cholesterol, as it turns
out, is primarily an over acidic lifestyle and
diet. A person lives an acidic life or who eats
foods that are acidic will inevitably cause the
body to go into preservation mode and produce more
cholesterol to neutralize the excess acid thus
showing the symptoms of this so-called dis-ease
of high cholesterol. Its simple cause and effect.
Eat the wrong foods and don't exercise, and you'll
produce too much acid which will cause the body to
release cholesterol from the liver to bind up
that acid which can be detected and diagnosed by
conventional medical procedures. You see it is
not the cholesterol that is bad it is the acid
producing food we eat and the lack of exercise
that is bad. Reduce the acid producing foods
like beef, chicken, pork, dairy, coffee, tea,
soda pops, etc., and start exercising every day
and you will reduce the protective cholesterol
that is saving your life from acids that are
not being eliminated from an acidic lifestyle
and diet.

Yet the root cause of all this is actually poor
lifestyle and food choice, not some bizarre
behavior by the liver. If the disease were to
be accurately named, then, it would be called
Acidic Lifestyle and Food Choice Dis-Ease, or
simply ALFCD.

ALFCD would be a far more accurate name that
would make sense to people. If it's an acidic
lifestyle and foods choice dis-ease, then it
seems that the obvious solution to the dis-ease
would be to choose a lifestyle and foods that
aren't so acidic. Of course that may be a bit
of simplification since you have to distinguish
between healthy alkaline lifestyles and foods
and unhealthy acidic lifestyle and foods. But
at least the name ALFCD gives clients or patients
a better idea of what's actually going on rather
than naming the dis-ease after a symptom, such
as high cholesterol. You see, the symptom is not
the dis-ease, but conventional medicine insists
on calling the symptom the dis-ease because that
way it can treat the symptom and claim success
without actually addressing the underlying cause,
which remains a mystery to modern medicine.

But let's move on to some other dis-eases so you
get a clearer picture of how this actually works.
Another dis-ease that's caused by poor lifestyle
and acidic food choice is diabetes. Type 2
diabetes is the natural physiological and metabolic
result of a person consuming refined carbohydrates
and added sugars in large quantities, undigested
proteins from beef, chicken, and pork without
engaging in regular physical exercise that would
compensate for such dietary practices.

The name 'diabetes' is meaningless to the average
person. The disease should be called Excessive Acid
Dis-Ease, or EAD. If it were called Excessive Acid
Dis-ease, the solution to it would be rather apparent;
simply eat less sugar, eliminate all animal proteins,
eggs, dairy, drink fewer soft drinks, exercise and so
on. But of course that would be far too simple for
the medical community, so the dis-ease must be given
a complex name such as diabetes that puts its
solution out of reach of the average patient.

Another dis-ease that is named after its symptom
is cancer. In fact, to this day, most doctors and
many patients still believe that cancer is a physical
thing: a tumor. In reality, a tumor is the solution
of cancer, not its cause. A tumor is simply a
physical manifestation of bound up acidic cells
so they do not spoil other healthy cells. The
tumor is the solution to cells damaged by acids
not the problem. The truth is cancer is not a
cell but an acidic liquid. When a person 'has
cancer,' what they really have is cancerous tissues
or latent tissue acidosis. They are absorbing
their own acidic urine. It would be a far better
named for the dis-ease: Cancerous Tisssue Dis-Ease(CTD)
or Latent Tissue Acidosis or LTA.

If cancer were actually called Latent Tissue Acidosis,
it would seem ridiculous to try to cure cancer by
cutting out tumors through surgery and by destroying
the immune system with chemotherapy. And yet these
are precisely the most popular treatments for cancer
offered by conventional medicine. These treatments
do absolutely nothing to support the patient's
immune system and prevent the build up of acids
in the tissues. That's exactly why most people who
undergo chemotherapy or the removal of tumors through
surgical procedures end up with yet more cancer a few
months or a few years later. It's also another reason
why survival rates of cancer have barely budged over
the last twenty years. (In other words, conventional
medicine's treatments for cancer simply don't work.)
The main reason is current medical science wrongly
perceives cancer as a cell when in reality cancer
is an acidic liquid, like lactic acid.

This whole situation stems from the fact that the
dis-ease is misnamed. It isn't cancer, it isn't a
tumor and it certainly isn't a dis-ease caused by
having too strong of an immune system that needs
to be destroyed through chemotherapy. It is simply
latent tissue acidosis. And if it were called
latent tissue acidosis dis-ease or urine in the
tissues dis-ease, the effective treatment for
cancer would be apparent.

The kidneys are responsible for eliminating acids
out of the blood and recycling alkalinity back into
the blood. When we have an over-acidic lifestyle
and diet this puts stress on the kidneys which
can cause them to breakdown. The result is kidney
dis-ease caused by circulatory acids. If acids
are not eliminated out of the blood they will
then be thrown out into the tissues leading to
latent tissue acidosis and eventual cancerous
tissue. Medical science uses dialysis to purify
the blood from acidity and prevent latent tissue
acidosis. If one will stop their acidic lifestyle
and diet and begin to alkalize the blood and
tissues this will support the kidneys and
prevent kidney disease and the need for
dialysis.

There are many other dis-eases that are given
misleading names by western medicine. But if you
look around the world and take a look at how
dis-eases are named elsewhere, you will find
many countries have dis-ease names that actually
make sense.

For example, in Chinese medicine, Alzheimer's
dis-ease is given a name that means, when
translated, 'feeble mind disease.' In Chinese
medicine, the name of the dis-ease more accurately
describes the actual cause of the dis-ease which
is caused by acids or urine on the brain, whereas
in western medicine, the name of the dis-ease
seems to be intended to obscure the root cause
of the dis-ease, thereby making all dis-eases
sound far more complex and mysterious than they
really are.

This is one way in which doctors and practitioners
of western medicine keep medical treatments out
of the reach of the average citizen. Because,
by God, they sure don't want people thinking for
themselves about the causes of dis-ease!

By creating a whole new vocabulary for medical
conditions, they can speak their own secret
language and make sure that people who aren't
schooled in medicine don't understand what
they're saying. That's a shame, because the
treatments and cures for virtually all chronic
dis-eases are actually quite simple and can be
described in plain language, such as making
different alkaline food choices, getting more
natural sunlight, drinking more alkaline water,
engaging in regular physical exercise, avoiding
specific acidic foods, supplementing our diet
with green foods and green drinks and alkalizing
nutritional supplements and so on.

See, western medicine prefers to describe
dis-eases in terms of chemistry. When you're
depressed, you aren't suffering from a lack of
natural sunlight; you are suffering from a 'brain
chemistry imbalance' that can only be regulated,
they claim, by ingesting toxic chemicals to alter
your brain chemistry. When your bones are brittle,
it's not acidic brittle bones dis-ease; it's
called osteoporosis, something that sounds very
technical and complicated. And to treat it, western
doctors and physicians will give you prescriptions
for expensive drugs that somehow claim to make
your bones less brittle. But in fact, the real
treatment for this can be described in plain
language once again: regular physical exercise,
vitamin D supplementation, mineral supplements
that include calcium and strontium, natural sunlight,
and avoidance of acidic foods such as soft drinks,
white flour and added sugars.

In fact, virtually every dis-ease that's prominent
in modern society -- diabetes, cancer, heart
disease, osteoporosis, clinical depression,
irritable bowel syndrome and so on -- can be
easily described in plain language without
using complex terms at all. These dis-eases
are simply misnamed. And I believe that they
are intentionally misnamed to put the jargon
out of reach of everyday citizens. As a result,
there's a great deal of arrogance in the language
of western medicine, and this arrogance furthers
the language of separation. Separation never
results in healing. In order to effect healing,
we must bring together the language of healers
and patients using plain language that real people
understand and that real people can act upon.

We need to start describing dis-eases in terms
of their root causes, not in terms of their arcane,
biochemical actions. When someone suffers from
seasonal affective disorder or clinical depression,
for example, let's call it what it is: Sunlight
Deficiency Disorder. To treat it, the person simply
needs to get more sunlight. This isn't rocket science,
it's not complex, and it doesn't require a
prescription.

If someone is suffering from osteoporosis, let's
get realistic about the words we use to describe
the condition: it's really Acidic Bones Dis-ease.
And it should be treated with things that will
enhance bone density, such as nutrition, physical
exercise and avoidance of acidic foods and drinks
that strip away bone mass from the human body to
neutralize the excess acids in the blood and
tissues.

All of this information, of course, is rather
shocking to old-school doctors and practitioners
of western medicine, and the bigger their egos
are, the more they hate the idea of naming dis-eases
in plain language that patients can actually
comprehend. That's because if the simple truths
about dis-eases and their causes were known,
health would be more readily available to everyday
people, and that would lessen the importance of
physicians and medical researchers.

There's a great deal of ego invested in the medical
community, and they sure don't want to make sound
health attainable to the average person without
their expert advice. Many Doctors want to serve
as the translators of 'truth' and will balk at
any attempts to educate the public to either practice
medicine on their own.

But in reality, health (and a connection with
spirit) is attainable by every single person.
Health is easy, it is straightforward, it is direct
and, for the most part, it is available free of
charge. A personal connection with our Creator is
the same if we ask humbly in prayer for a
relationship with Him, and guidance.

Don't believe the names of dis-eases given to you
by your doctor. Those names are designed to obscure,
not to inform. They are designed to separate you
from self-healing, not to put you in touch with your
own inner healer. And thus, they are nothing more
than bad medicine masquerading as modern medical
practice."

Robert O. Young and Anthony Robbins. (it's free to listen!)

Vitamin K Reduces Chronic Inflammation Throughout the Body

(NaturalNews) Higher vitamin K1 intake may decrease the incidence of the inflammation that has been linked to a variety of diseases, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

"Our findings provide one potential alternative mechanism for a putative protective effect of vitamin K in the progression of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis, since both diseases are characterized by inflammation," the researchers wrote.

Researchers analyzed data from 1,381 participants in the Framingham Offspring study to determine blood vitamin K levels and dietary intake of vitamin K1 and vitamin D, as well as the occurrence of inflammation biomarkers. The participants had an average age of 59, and 52 percent were women.

The researchers found that higher blood levels and dietary intake of K1 was correlated with lower levels of 14 different inflammation biomarkers. After the researchers adjusted to exclude people with heart disease, increased vitamin K1 intake still correlated with lower levels of five specific biomarkers: a 15 percent reduction in CD40 ligand, 8 percent reduction in interleukin-6 concentration, 4 percent reduction in serum osteoprotegerin concentration, a 4 percent reduction in tumor necrosis factor receptor-2 and a 3 percent reduction in intracellular adhesion molecule-1 concentration.

Increased vitamin D intake was correlated with a decrease in one inflammation biomarker, urinary isoprostane.

The correlations held up even after the researchers adjusted for age, sex, body mass index, use of drugs including aspirin or statins, time of year and whether female participants were using hormone replacement therapy after menopause.

Vitamin K occurs in three main forms: phylloquinone or phytonadione, known as vitamin K1; and menaquinones, known as vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 can be synthesized by the human gut, and is also found in meat and fermented food products. Vitamin K1 is found in green leafy vegetables, including broccoli, lettuce and spinach. Vitamin K3, a synthetic form, is not recommended for humans.

Forget the Headlines - Keep Taking Your Vitamins and Minerals

(NaturalNews) A "new" study condemning the use of vitamins and classifying them as ineffective and potentially dangerous is generating headlines throughout the mainstream media in the United States and Europe. Apparently generating headlines was the sole intention, as the study is neither new, scientific nor objective.

The "study" was led by Serbian scientist and "visiting researcher" at Copenhagen University Hospital, Goran Bjelakovic, whose name is now synonymous with vitamin meta-analyses (studies of other studies) which appear to show that vitamin supplements either don't work or end up increasing your risk of death. Two similar Bjelakovic "studies" on vitamin supplements, in October 2004 and February 2007, resulted in similar outbursts of negative international headlines.

Upon closer examination, the flaws in the so-called study are apparent. First of all, in evaluating studies for inclusion, the authors omitted 405 potentially eligible studies because there were no deaths in the studies and another 69 studies were excluded because they weren´t randomized controlled trials.

In other words, instead of conducting an honest review of all the studies, the authors arbitrarily eliminated all studies in which vitamins prevented mortality and kept people alive -- leaving only the studies in which people died from various causes. Most of the trials used pertain to already sick people being given very high dose, synthetic, isolated nutrients for relatively short periods -- they therefore have no relevance to the vast majority of vitamin consumers.

When you select or reject studies on criteria that only mean something to statisticians, and ignore important things like duration, how long the study ran for -- which ranged from 28 days to 14 years -- your findings are immediately meaningless. Even the huge difference in the dose of supplements between different studies was not deemed important -- for example, Vitamin E ranging from 10 to 5000 units daily.

The studies in the latest meta-analysis not only relied on synthetic forms of vitamins, in most instances they relied on very high dosages of pharmaceutical-grade, synthetic forms of supplements manufactured by the pharmaceutical industry. The dosages used are typically much greater than those recommended on the labels of food or dietary supplement products. In most countries, the dosages used in the trials would be considered 'medicinal' by regulatory authorities and therefore would not legally be allowed for food or dietary supplements.

As a result, these studies actually apply only to synthetic forms of vitamins produced by the pharmaceutical industry in amounts much larger than most consumers would ever take. The authors of this latest Cochrane review state: "The present review does not assess antioxidant supplements for treatment of specific diseases (tertiary prevention), antioxidant supplements for patients with demonstrated specific needs of antioxidants, or the effects of antioxidants contained in fruits or vegetables." This shows that the study has no relevance to natural sources of vitamins and minerals or antioxidants sourced from plants (e.g. flavonoids, anthocyanins, sulforaphanes, salvestrols/resveratrol, etc.), which are included in many of the leading-edge natural health supplements claiming potent antioxidant activity.

Make no mistake, this isn't research. This is a re-analysis of studies that have been conducted and reported on previously, by a group of men with a known axe to grind, who have never produced a study favorable to supplements, which is itself statistically unlikely unless you have a bias.

There is extensive scientific evidence that higher intakes of vitamins in the forms and combinations consumed in the diet substantially reduce risk of killer diseases such as cancer and heart disease. In fact, it is this research (some of which is referenced in the introduction to both the JAMA and Cochrane papers) that has stimulated pharmaceutical companies to undertake research on pharmaceutical-grade, synthetic forms of supplements, which they manufacture. As is often the case when pharmaceutical companies try to synthesize or unnaturally isolate compounds found in nature so they can patent and profit from them, their synthetic versions have been largely disappointing.

A good source to see why their results have largely failed can be seen in this paper by the Alliance for Natural Health:

As a final note on the study: although presented as "new", the study is really no more than a rehash of a paper by the very same authors, published last year (February 2007) in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Extensive international media followed the 2007 JAMA paper, including front page articles in major newspapers telling consumers that vitamin pills could cause early death. The "new" study review relies on 67 of the 68 studies used in the JAMA paper.

The world pharmaceutical empire is a trillion dollar juggernaut whose continued profits depend on continued illness as well as a continued monopoly on approved medications and suppression of any alternatives which might provide prevention and treatment more effectively, more safely and less expensively -- such as those found in nature. And so there are a trillion reasons why we see the repeated headlines about misleading and flawed studies like this one on vitamins, minerals and other natural supplements that represent billions of dollars in potential lost profits due to improved health and competition with patented drugs.

The best possible model for profits would be a monopoly on side-effect laden drugs which lead to complications requiring yet more side effect laden drugs in a never ending cycle so that by the time a person reaches the age of 65 they take an average of 15 prescribed and over the counter medications daily when it all started with one or two conditions that could have been treated naturally. A great model for profits and a horrible one for health and humanity.

The bottom line for all those who reject such a model: don't stop taking your vitamins, minerals and other supplements -- especially those derived from natural sources which insure adequate amounts of daily nutrition vital to your optimum health.

Magnesium Is Crucial to the Proper Functioning of a Healthy Body

(NaturalNews) The following is an excerpt from the book "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy" by Dr. Mark Sircus, AC., OMD which introduces an innovative way to increase our magnesium levels through completely natural means, and in much faster ways than oral products do.

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health. Magnesium (Mg), atomic number twelve, is an element essential for normal function of the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Unfortunately, magnesium deficiency is one of the most common nutritional problems in the industrialized world today. This deficiency is the result of agricultural practices, food preparation techniques, and dietary trends. The current Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for the U.S. is 6 mg/Kg/day, which translates to 420 mg for a 70 Kg man. Despite this, it has been estimated that adults average much less than this requirement. The health implications are nothing short of catastrophic. Magnesium is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. It is essential for the functions of muscles and nerves and for the formation of bones and teeth. Generally it counteracts and regulates the influence of calcium.

There are basically two classes of minerals: micronutrients, which are only needed in trace amounts and macronutrients, of which we need fairly significant amounts. Most people are aware that we need calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, in relatively large quantities. Unfortunately, the conventional medical paradigm in the United States has not realized the importance of magnesium. Magnesium supplementation is dramatically under utilized by conventional physicians. Though Mg deficiency is common, it is usually not looked for, and therefore, not found or corrected. In most industrialized countries, magnesium intake has decreased over time and is now marginal in the entire population.(1)

When 1,033 hospitalized patients were studied, over 54% were low in magnesium. What was worse is that 90% of the doctors never even thought of ordering a magnesium test.(2) - Journal of the AMA

There are over 200 published clinical studies(3) documenting the need for magnesium and many examples of miraculous "cures" from the use of this common mineral. Even DAN (Defeat Autism Now) doctors underestimate autistic children's needs recommending only 50 milligrams twice a day in oral form. Not much of that is going to get into the children's blood and cells because oral administration of magnesium is not absorbed readily and is made less available because of all the problems in these kids' GI (GastroIntestinal) systems. Professor Gilbert LeLord of France published six studies evaluating the use of vitamin B6 with magnesium, on autistic children and adults. Their studies typically used as much as 500 milligrams of magnesium with more than satisfactory results.

According to Dr. Norman Shealy, oral magnesium supplementation takes between 6 to 12 months to restore intracellular levels whereas a transdermally applied magnesium lotion with 25% magnesium chloride restores intracellular levels within 4 to 6 weeks. Some nutritional experts now believe that 750 milligrams of magnesium supplement per day is a more physiologic(4) recommendation but to take that much orally might upset the digestive system, cause diarrhea, and end up not being properly absorbed.

Good sources of magnesium include whole grains, nuts, peanut butter, cottonseed, peanut and soybean flours, green leafy vegetables and spices. It's better to get magnesium from foods rather than supplements because high doses have a laxative effect -- the body's way of preventing toxic levels. But unfortunately, we have to come to terms with the fact that the food values of magnesium have been dropping over the last fifty years making it extremely difficult to receive all we need from foods. The International Medical Veritas Association recommends a system of transdermal magnesium therapy that bypasses the problems evident with oral magnesium supplementation (see treatment recommendations).

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and is essential to good health. Approximately 50% of total body magnesium is found in bone. The other half is found predominantly inside cells of body tissues and organs. Only 1% of magnesium is found in the blood, but the body works very hard to keep blood levels of magnesium constant. Magnesium is the single most important mineral for maintaining proper electrical balance and facilitating smooth metabolism in the cells. One of the major properties of magnesium is that of stabilizing membranes. Magnesium has a stabilizing effect not only for the cell membrane but also for various subcellular organelles.

Magnesium deficiency can affect virtually every system of the body. Unfortunately, Mg absorption and elimination depend on a very large number of variables, at least one of which often goes awry, leading to a Mg deficiency that can be present with many signs and symptoms. To say that magnesium is important in health and medicine is to underestimate the case for it, as it is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. Mg is extremely important for the metabolism of Ca, K, P, Zn, Cu, Fe, Na, Pb, Cd, HCl, acetylcholine, and nitric oxide (NO), for many enzymes, for the intracellular homeostasis and for activation of thiamine and therefore, for a very wide gamut of critical body functions.

Magnesium is a particularly crucial element for mediating the vital functions of the nervous and endocrine systems; it helps maintain normal muscle and nerve functions, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis. In the nucleus, more than half the magnesium is closely associated with nucleic acids and mononucleotides. Magnesium is necessary for the physical integrity of the double helix of DNA, which carries genetic information and the code for specific proteins.

"Enzymes are protein molecules that stimulate every chemical reaction in the body. Magnesium is
required to make hundreds of these enzymes work." - Dr. Carolyn Dean

According to Dr. Carolyn Dean, "Of the 325 magnesium-dependent enzymes(5), the most important enzyme reaction involves the creation of energy by activating adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the fundamental energy storage molecule of the body. ATP may be what the Chinese refer to as qi, or life force. Magnesium is required for the body to produce and store energy. Without magnesium there is no energy, no movement, no life." Magnesium is necessary for the synthesis of various compounds that have energy-rich bonds of any type.(6) The formation of energy-rich bonds that require Mg2+ constitutes the necessary basis for all cellular activities. This alone establishes the critical biologic importance of magnesium. Thus fatigue is often reduced with magnesium (and potassium) supplementation. The many enzyme systems that require magnesium help restore normal energy levels.

The toxic effect of fluoride ions plays a key role in acute Mg deficiency. Fluoride ion clearly interferes with the biological activity of magnesium ions. In general, fluoride magnesium interactions decrease enzymatic activity.(7)

Dr. Dean is the author of The Miracle of Magnesium and she and many other doctors and researchers are clear that "magnesium deficiency is a significant factor -- often the major factor -- in many severe illnesses including heart attacks and other forms of heart disease, asthma, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, fatigue, diabetes, migraines and other headaches, osteoporosis, insomnia, and most cases of muscular problems." Dr. Steven Johnson puts it better: "The range of pathologies associated with Mg deficiency is staggering: hypertension (cardiovascular disease, kidney and liver damage, etc.), peroxynitrite damage (migraine, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, etc.), recurrent bacterial infection due to low levels of nitric oxide in the cavities (sinuses, vagina, middle ear, lungs, throat, etc.), fungal infections due to a depressed immune system, thiamine deactivation (low gastric acid, behavioral disorders, etc.), premenstrual syndrome, Ca deficiency (osteoporosis, mood swings, etc.), tooth cavities, hearing loss, diabetes type II, cramps, muscle weakness, impotence, aggression, fibromas, K deficiency (arrhythmia, hypertension, some forms of cancer), Fe accumulation, etc."

Calcium and magnesium are opposites in their effects on our body structure. As a general rule, the softer our body structure the more we need calcium, while the more rigid and inflexible
it is, the less calcium and the more magnesium we need.

Magnesium is essential in regulating central nervous system excitability. Magnesium-deficiency may also cause aggressive behavior(8), depression, or suicide.(9) Magnesium calms the brain and people do not need to become severely deficient in magnesium for the brain to become hyperactive. One study(10) confirmed earlier reports that a marginal magnesium intake overexcites the brain's neurons and results in less coherence -- creating cacophony rather than symphony -- according to electroencephalogram (EEG) measurements.(11) During half of the six-month study, 13 women consumed 115 milligrams of magnesium daily -- or about 40 percent of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). During the other half, they got 315 mg daily -- a little more than the 280 mg recommended for women. After only six weeks on the marginal intake, EEG readings showed significant differences in brain function.

Magnesium exists in the body either as active ions or as inactive complexes bound to proteins or other substances. Minerals in general rule over other nutrients because vitamins, enzymes and amino acids, as well as fats and carbohydrates, require them for activity. There are 17 minerals that are considered essential in human nutrition and if there is a shortage of just one, the balance of the entire system can be upset. A deficiency of a single mineral can negatively impact the entire chain of life, rendering other nutrients ineffective and useless. Magnesium is one of the key minerals that we need in relatively large quantities. The recommended daily requirement of magnesium in the diet of human beings is between 280 and 350 mg per day, although some studies have shown a daily requirement of as much as 500 mg per day or more, depending on the body weight of the individual.

In addition to being the most essential mineral in our cellular energy production, magnesium is also needed for the ingested B-vitamins to become metabolically active. Magnesium is also essential for the synthesis of nucleic acids, for cell division to occur, for DNA and RNA synthesis of our genetic material, for protein as well as fatty acid synthesis. Virtually no one is promoting magnesium as a lifesaving mineral.

Silver Rings to Treat Arthritis Symptoms Validated

(NaturalNews) Research by academics at the University of Southampton in collaboration with occupational therapy clinicians into the effectiveness of wearing a particular type of silver ring to alleviate symptoms of arthritis has found some benefits to their use.

The research, which was carried out by academics from the University's School of Health Professions and Rehabilitation Sciences and the School of Electronics & Computer Science in conjunction with Occupational Therapy at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, found that silver ring splints are effective in controlling hyperextension deformity of finger joints, which is common in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.

These silver ring splints are elegant rings, which have replaced bulky, plastic ones and are worn to give joints back their stability. Many patients think they look better than the plastic ones and they are also stronger and more durable.

The paper, Three Dimensional Function Motion Analysis of Silver Ring Splints in Rheumatoid Arthritis, which was awarded the Arthritis Research Campaign Silver Medal at the British Society of Rheumatology's annual meeting, was honoured for its interdisciplinary approach.

The research work was funded by a grant awarded by Wessex Medical Research. The research team consisted of Dr. Cheryl Metcalf, an engineer at the University of Southampton's School of Electronics and Computer Science, Caroline Spicka studying for her MSc at the University and Dr. Jo Adams Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy at the University, and a clinical occupational therapist from Royal Hampshire County Hospital.

Silver Rings Splints can be purchased without prescriptions. I found one company, Silver Ring Splint Company, that specializes only in Silver Rings Splints and can be found at (http://www.silverringsplint.com/index.html) .

Law of Compensation

"Crowd out all inferior thoughts by superior thoughts, evil thoughts by good thoughts, ugly thoughts by beautiful thoughts, distressing thoughts by pleasant thoughts, and you will begin to overcome the growth of all negative and confused states of wrong and discord. In other words, learn to think constructively of all persons, all things, all events, and all circumstances. Appraise them from the ideal point of view. As you do this you will gradually transform your whole existence for the better. These are the means whereby you may steadily promote your welfare and advancement.

As you train yourself to mentally look for the good, you will move towards the good; and, as you form higher and larger conceptions of the good, these elements will begin to find expression in your words, acts, character, person, talents, powers, attainments, and achievements; that is, all things in your life will commence to improve as the direct result of your improved thinking.

This process does not imply, however, that you are to ignore the wrongs of life, the empty places, and the undeveloped states of being; but that you are to think right through and beyond them towards the hidden good or the principle within that is ever seeking a higher and fuller expression. You will, therefore, cease to condemn and to criticize in a destructive manner; instead you will seek to bring out the good in yourself and in others, and to discover and develop the greater possibilities everywhere."

Salt Is Good For You

Both sea salt and rock salt were well known
to the ancient Greeks who noted that eating
salty food affected basic body functions such
as digestion and excretion (urine and stools).
This led to salt being used medically. The healing
methods of Hippocrates (460 BC) especially made
frequent use of salt. Salt-based remedies were
thought to have expectorant powers. A mixture
of water and salt was employed as an emetic.

Drinking a mixture of two-thirds cow's milk and
one-third salt-water, in the mornings, on an empty
stomach was recommended as a cure for diseases
of the spleen. A mixture of salt and honey was
applied topically to clean bad ulcers and salt-water
was used externally against skin diseases and freckles.

Hippocrates also mentions inhalation of steam from
salt-water. We know today that the antiinflammatory
effects of inhaled salt provide relief from respiratory
symptoms (c).

Thus, 2000 years ago, Greek medicine had already
discovered topical use of salt for skin lesions, drinking
salty or mineralized waters for digestive troubles and
inhaling salt for respiratory diseases!

The doctor and alchemist Paracelsus (1493-1541 A.D.)
introduced an entirely new medical concept. He believed
that external factors create disease and conceived a
chemically oriented medical system which contrasted
with the prevalent herbal medicine. Only salted food
could be digested properly: 'The human being must
have salt, he cannot be without salt. Where there is no
salt, nothing will remain, but everything will tend to rot.'

He recommended salt water for the treatment of wounds
and for use against intestinal worms. A hip-bath in salt
water was a superb remedy for skin diseases and itching:
'This brine - he said - is better than all the health spas
arising out of nature.' He described the diuretic effect
of salt consumption and prescribed salt preparations of
different strengths that were used for instance against
constipation.

'In recent years there has been much publicity about
the need to reduce salt consumption in societies where
salt is added to many processed foods
(Denton 1984, 584-7).

It has tended to be forgotten that some salt intake is
absolutely necessary; that people need salt, sodium
chloride, to survive: The chemical requirements of the
human body demand that the salt concentration in the
blood be kept constant. If the body does not get enough
salt, a hormonal mechanism compensates by reducing
the excretion of salt in the urine and sweat. But it
cannot reduce this output to zero.

On a completely salt-free diet the body steadily loses
small amounts of salt via the kidneys and sweat glands.
It then attempts to adjust this by accelerating its
secretion of water, so that the blood's salt
concentration can be maintained at the vital level.
The result is a gradual desiccation of the body
and finally death.' Roy Moxham

An eight-year study of a New York City hypertensive
population stratified for sodium intake levels found
those on low-salt diets had more than four times as
many heart attacks as those on normal-sodium diets -
the exact opposite of what the 'salt hypothesis' would
have predicted. (1995)

Dr. Jeffrey R. Cutler documented no health outcomes
benefits of lower-sodium diets. Salt Institute

A past president of the American Heart Association,
Dr. Suzanne Oparil of the University of Alabama-
Birmingham, said her personal view is that the
government may have been too quick to
recommend that everyone cut back. 'Salt
restriction as a solitary recommendation for the
population for the prevention or the treatment
of hypertension.

Where to purchase real, unrefined liquid salt go to:

An abundance of the ingredients in unrefined real salt
are as synonymous with life today as they were a billion
years ago before single cells appeared here. Lack of
them is synonymous with birth defects, organ failure,
decay, diseases, premature aging and death at a
young age.

The problem with salt is not the salt itself but the
condition of the salt we eat - refined! Major producing
companies dry their salt in huge kilns with temperatures
reaching 1200 degrees F, changing he salt's chemical
structure, which in turn adversely affects the human
body.

The facts are that in the heating process of salt,
the element sodium chloride goes off into the air
as a gas. What remains is sodium hydroxate which
is irritating to the system and does not satisfy the
body's hunger and need for sodium chloride. Sodium
and chloride are two of the 12 daily essential
minerals.

In countries which do not alter their salt supply,
heart disease and arthritis are so rare that many
doctors have never seen a case. Their salt is dried
from the ocean by the sun. Many people believe
that salt is harmful to the human body.

The truth is we cannot live without sodium or chloride-
salt. From salt the body makes sodium bicarbaonate which
is one of the essential compounds for alkalizing the
food we eat. Also, from salt the body makes iron for
producing the hemoglobin of the red blood cell.

Cl + O <=> Mn + H <=> Fe or

chloride + Oxygen = Manganese + Hydrogen = Iron.

There is not enough natural salt in our foods, so we
must supplement our diet. When salt is withheld,
weakness and sickness follow.

Try this experiment: Mix a spoonful of salt in a
glass of water and let it stand overnight. If the salt
collects on the bottom of the glass, it has been
processed.

NATURAL SALT DISSOLVES! Salt that will not dissolve
in water cannot dissolve in your body. Any foreign
substance that collects in the body organs and tissues
will eventually result in malfunctioning of essential
body processes: heart disease, arthritis, hardening
of the body tissues and arteries, calcium deposits
in the joints, etc. Natural organic salt (saline) will
not cause calcification in your body. Real sea salt can
dissolve damaging calcium deposits in the body.

Science and medicine have tried to define the precise
roles of salt in the healthy and diseased human organism.
Blood, sweat, and tears all contain salt, and both the
skin and the eyes are protected from metabolic acids
from the effects of salt. When salt is added to a liquid,
particles with opposite charges are formed: a positively
charged sodium ion and a negatively charged chloride ion.

This is the basis of osmosis which regulates fluid
pressure within living cells and protects the body
against excessive water loss (as in diarrhea or on
heavy sweating).

Sodium and chloride ions, as well as potassium ions,
create a measurable difference in potential across cell
membranes. This ensures that the fluid inside living cells
remains separate from that outside. Thus, although the
human body consists mainly of water, our 'inner ocean'
does not flow away or evaporate. Sodium ions create a
high pressure of liquid in the kidneys and thus regulate
their metabolic function.

Water is extracted through the renal drainage system.
The body thus loses a minimal amount of essential
alkaline water. Out of 1500 liters of blood which pass
daily through the kidneys, only about 1.5 liters of liquid
leave the body as urine.

Salt is 'fuel' for nerves. Streams of positively and
negatively charged ions send impulses to nerve fibers.
A muscle cell will only contract if an impulse reaches it.
Nerve impulses are partly propelled by co-ordinated
changes in charged particles.

Fish from the ocean will die quickly if placed in a
solution of refined salt and water. The sodium
chloride, in its form as it comes from the refinery,
is actually poisonous to them. Bottom line, is that
yes it can be harmful to consume too much refined
salt, but you cannot consume too much natural
unrefined liquid real salt.

For more information on the healthful benefits
of real mineral sea salt go to:

http://www.phmiracleliving.com/phlavor.htm

http://www.phmiracleliving.com/pHourSalts.htm

In conclusion the question, "does salt cause
high blood pressure?" The answer is absolutely
NOT! High blood pressure is caused by dietary
and metabolic acids that are not being properly
eliminated through urination, defecation,
perspiration and respiration. The truth is, you
do not get high blood pressure you do high
blood pressure with your lifestyle and dietary
choices. Sodium chloride is the key to reducing
and normalizing blood pressure and maintaining
healthy pulse rate below 70 beats a minute.

Vitamin C About to be Made Illegal in Canada! [?]

"What if, just for taking vitamin C, you could be thrown in jail for up to 2 years and fined up to $5,000,000?

That scenario could very well soon become a reality in Canada. The Canadian Government is trying to pass a bill known as Bill C51. According to some interpretations of the bill, it would remove all supplements from over-the-counter availability, by only allowing MD's to prescribe them as they see fit.

This would mean that if you wanted to take a multivitamin, you would have to book an appointment with your doctor and try to convince your doctor that you are in need of these supplements. If your doctor decides a certain drug would be better for you, then you won't have access to your supplements anymore.

Consequences of the bill could include:

a.. No more supplement stores
b.. Supplements made illegal unless obtained through a prescription; 70 percent of all current supplements on the market could be removed
c.. Fines of up to $5,000,000.00 and/or 2 years in jail per incident of being caught breaking this law
Sources:
a.. EZine Articles

Dr. Mercola's Comments:
For many, this sounds inconceivable. Surely someone is misinterpreting the proposed law?

After hours of cross-checking, I must admit, I'm still a bit confused about its true potential ramifications.

In reading the proposed law itself (for the full act see this link), the statements above appear to be potentially accurate interpretations. Ditto on the dire predictions made by Stop51.com.

And, although the Canadian government's site Healthy Canadians claims that none of the above statements are true, it offers very little in terms of guidance on just how and why the law doesn't mean what it says.

Why Should Americans Care?

If you're one of the millions of people in Canada, the United States or Mexico, who has never heard of the Trilateral Union, the North American Union (NAU), or Codex, I'm afraid you may be in for a quite a surprise. But don't feel bad, neither of our respective governments or major media outlets are speaking publicly or frankly about these plans.

These issues are far too broad and deep to go into in this article, but they are the reasons why you should care about this law passing in Canada, even if you don't live there now - because in the foreseeable future the borders between our three countries might disappear.

If you're reading this newsletter you obviously have access to the internet, so just Google "North American Union" or "Codex" and you'll get more than 74.6 million and 13 million hits respectively on these two topics.

You can also search my website for previous articles on Codex and what these international food and supplement standards may mean for the future of nutritional supplements.

If being an informed citizen matter to you, don't let these topics slip under your radar - they have the power to change our respective countries and our ways of life in more ways than you could imagine.

What Does Codex Have to Do With C-51?

To answer that question we have to back up a couple of paces and start with a quick explanation of what Codex is.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission, conceived by the United Nations in 1962, was birthed through a series of relationships between The World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Trade Organization (WTO) as well as the American FDA and USDA.

The Codex Alimentarius itself is a compilation of food standards, codes of practice and guidelines that specify all requirements related to foods (whether processed, semi-processed, genetically engineered, or raw). Their purpose is to protect consumers' health, ensure fair business practices within the food trade, and eliminate international food trade barriers by standardizing food quality.

Sounds good in theory, right?

However, the two most potentially dangerous prospects of Codex are: 1) these standards are being devised as international rules intended for world-wide adoption, and 2) Codex has classified nutrients as toxins.

Yes, toxins. That's not a misprint.

The Codex Commission decided-with the support of the United States-to use something called Risk Assessment, which assesses the maximum level of a substance - in this case a nutrient -- that may be ingested without causing any discernable biological effect.

Did you get that one? Let me explain further.

Risk Assessment is a branch of Toxicology, a.k.a. the science of toxins (as opposed to the science of nutrition). In a sane world, it is used to assess how much of a toxic substance you can safely eat without noticing any physical effects or problems. As soon as there is a biological effect, you have hit the upper, maximum limit for that substance.

Codex is slowly but surely shimmying into position to mandate the universal maximum "safe" level of every vitamin, mineral, supplement and herb that may legally be manufactured, used or sold -- with "safe" being a level that has no physical effect.

So, what does this have to do with Canada's potential adoption of C-51?

Well, C-51 also amends the Canadian law to allow trade agreements to become law without Parliamentary approval, and for the regulation to incorporate documents produced by a foreign state or subdivision of a foreign state.

What that means is that the Codex treaty could become Canadian law without Parliamentary approval simply by passing a regulation saying it is now part of the Canadian regulations.

If the Codex rules become the law of the land in Canada, the safety of supplements might become judged on the toxicology scale, and if Canada has these laws in place when the NAU becomes reality - guess what? The U.S. and Mexico may have little choice but to fall under the same umbrella of laws and standards.

And, even if you refuse to believe that the North American Union will ever take place, passing similar, potentially restricting natural health laws in the U.S. will be a whole lot easier if Canada sets the precedent.

The Fine Art of Double-Speak

The Canadian law, known as C-51, was introduced by the Canadian Minister of Health on April 8th, 2008, proposing far-reaching changes to Canada's Food and Drugs Act. The question on everyone's mind is whether or not it might have devastating consequences on the health products industry.

According to the government website Healthy Canadians, Canadians will continue to have access to natural health products that are safe, effective and of high quality, and claims that:

a.. Natural health products will not be regulated as pharmaceutical drugs; they will continue to be regulated under their own regulations - separate from drugs and foods.
b.. Bill C-51 will not increase the costs of natural health products.
c.. Bill C-51 does not regulate growing an herb garden.
d.. Bill C-51 does not target practitioners who compound products for their patients.
e.. Bill C-51 does not target Canadians' personal use of natural health products.
f.. Health food stores will not require a special license to sell natural health products.
g.. Canadians will not require a prescription from a doctor for natural health products.
However, the site also makes somewhat confusing statements like:

"Under Bill C-51 the term 'therapeutic products' encompasses a range of products sold for therapeutic purposes, including drugs, medical devices, biologics, and natural health products. This does not change the classification of a natural health product nor impose additional requirements."

Personally, I've not been able to sort out why or how a natural health product -- if now lumped together with drugs under the term 'therapeutic products' -- would not change its classification, and why they would not have to abide by the same rules as all other 'therapeutic products.'

The Power of Words

One of the most opposed changes is this radical alteration to key terminology, including replacing the word "drug" with "therapeutic product," which is the same term used for all natural products as well.

To get a better idea of the many questions and confusing pitfalls this law change brings to fore, I recommend reading the NHPPA Draft Discussion Paper on Bill C-51.

Clearly, I'm not the only one who can't make heads or tails out of this legislative doublespeak, and the paper (written by a defense attorney specializing in the Food and Drugs Act) succinctly points out the power of language and key words in legislative debate.

For example, the old definition of "sell" is:

"includes the offer for sale, expose for sale, have in possession for sale and distribute, whether or not the distribution is made for consideration."

That's clear. In fact, I think most of us have a decent idea of what "selling" means. The NEW definition of "sell," however, opens the door for a very broad interpretation:

"includes offer for sale, expose for sale or have in possession for sale, or distribute to one or more persons, whether or not the distribution is made for consideration and in relation to a device, includes lease, offer for lease, expose for lease or have in possession for lease."

Now, what's the reason for redefining the meaning of the word "sell" to include the simple act of "distributing to one or more persons"? Who does this new meaning benefit? Who does this now include that was not included before? Why the need for such a broad definition?

In plain English, it appears the law now applies if I were to simply give something to another person for free, whether it's a stranger or a family member.

More Questionable Interpretations

Another interesting rebuttal by the Canadian government is the issue of whether or not an inspector would be allowed to enter private property without permission or a warrant.

The Healthy Canadian site states, "Inspectors will not be able to enter a private home without permission or a warrant."

And yet the law, Section 23 (4), clearly reads: An inspector who is carrying out their functions may enter on or pass through or over private property without being liable for doing so and without the owner of the property having the right to object to that use of the property.

Since when does "without the right to object" mean that they have to ask for permission or present a warrant?

What Can You Do?

I don't pretend to know or understand the full potential implications of this proposed law. However, if -- after reading through the many source links I've included in this comment -- you believe that C-51 is a law that is not in your and your family's best interest, you can make your voice heard by signing the StopC51 petition."

Vitamin D - It Could Help Save Your Life

"Thirty minutes, in a bathing suit in the mid-day summer sun, will produce 10,000 IUs, or more (for whites). Official recomendations are woefully inadequate.
Get A Little Sun This Summer -- It Could Help Save Your Life, Researcher Suggests
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/06/080616161111.htm
ScienceDaily (Jun. 18, 2008) - As summer comes and people across America get ready to start slathering on the sunscreen, a note of caution is in order - a little sunshine is good for you.

Studies increasingly are suggesting the value of vitamin D - often known as the sunshine vitamin, because that's one way you can obtain it - in everything from bone metabolism to maintaining muscle strength, immune function, reducing hypertension and possibly even playing a role in prevention of cancer and autoimmune disease.

Summer is a time when most people finally get enough of this vitamin due to their sun exposure, and also help build stores of it in their fat for use during the dark days of winter. But research has suggested that, for whatever reason, as many as a billion people around the world may now be vitamin D deficient, posing possibly serious threats to their health.

"The old theory was that if you had enough vitamin D to prevent rickets and osteomalacia, two skeletal disorders, you were okay," said Victoria Drake, a research associate in the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, and manager of its Micronutrient Information Center. "But new research is now raising our awareness about the possible relationships between vitamin D and cancer, particularly colorectal, breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. There are also potential links to cardiovascular disease, and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis."

Many of the studies are observational, Drake said, and more work needs to be done with randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials. Experts still argue about how much vitamin D is enough, and some feel that the optimal amount is several times higher than the adequate intake level set by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine, which is 200 international units per day for adults ages 19-50.

What's clear, however, is that many Americans are not getting even those minimal amounts, especially those with dark skin colors - one study reported that 42 percent of African American women were vitamin D deficient.

As a result, Drake said, many doctors are increasingly starting to test their patients for deficiency of this vitamin, especially in the temperate zones above 40 degrees latitude - a line running roughly from Philadelphia to Denver and through Northern California. That includes New York City, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle and many other of the nation's most populous cities. Residents of the Pacific Northwest, with its northern latitudes and eternally cloudy winters, are especially vulnerable. Inexpensive supplements are frequently prescribed.

"My own doctor said that he frequently tests for vitamin D status, and that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in his patient population," Drake said. "Experts are now talking about a phenomenon they call 'Vitamin D Winter.'"

One recent study referred to vitamin D deficiency as "a major unrecognized epidemic in the older adult population" and recommended routine blood testing for adequate levels.

Open to speculation, but little in the way of proof, Drake said, is that deficiencies of vitamin D may have worsened in recent years as more people became aware of the risks of skin cancer and aggressively avoided sun exposure or used sunscreen lotions, on themselves and their children. Experts still agree that a fairly modest amount of sun is enough - perhaps 10-15 minutes of exposure on your arms and face about three times a week. Sunburn should of course be avoided and a tan clearly isn't necessary - but some real sun exposure probably is.

Alternatively, you can also get vitamin D from some foods, including vitamin fortified milk and some cereals or breads - assuming you don't have a diet rich in oily fish. For higher levels, supplements are usually necessary.

Among the recent findings and observations about vitamin D:

a.. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that functions as a hormone in the body, regulating calcium metabolism.
b.. Most people living above 40 degrees latitude do not obtain enough vitamin D from about mid-November to early March.
c.. Infants who are exclusively breast-fed, and are not supplemented with vitamin D, are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency, because human milk generally doesn't have adequate levels.
d.. People with dark-colored skin have significantly less ability to synthesize vitamin D from sunlight, as do the elderly.
e.. Obesity increases the risk of vitamin D deficiency because obese individuals cannot easily access the vitamin D stored in body fat.
So if adequate levels of vitamin D are critical to your health, how much is enough? Depends on who you ask, Drake said. The official government recommendation is 200 I.U. per day - although moderate sun exposure might provide about 100 times that much. Many multivitamins provide about 400 I.U. per day, and it's generally accepted that levels up to 2,000 I.U. per day pose no health risk. Some studies under way with pregnant women are giving them 4,000 I.U. per day in supplements.

One study last year indicated an adequate level of vitamin D, produced by daily supplements of up to 2,000 I.U. per day, might prevent 30 percent of the cases of breast cancer and 50 percent of the colon cancer in the United States - at extremely low cost and with few or no adverse effects.

The Linus Pauling Institute recommends a multivitamin supplement with at least 400 I.U. of vitamin D for most healthy adults, and twice that amount for anyone over age 50. Additionally, at least 10-15 minutes of sun exposure on the arms and legs, or face and arms, at least three times weekly, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. during the spring, summer and fall may help residents of temperate latitudes avoid vitamin D deficiency at the end of winter.

"There's a lot we still have to learn about this micronutrient, but it's already clear the role it has in optimal health, and that a lot of people don't get enough," Drake said. "Many people may need to consider supplements, especially in winter. And one thing we would say is, don't be afraid of getting at least a little sunshine. It's good for you."

When hot oatmeal is, well, too hot for summertime

I had this recommended to me yesterday. I haven't tried it yet, so I give it out with that warning. (I was going to do it this morning, but I had a bit of extra time, and wanted to make pancakes. I make a big batch of whole grain pancakes, so I can nuke a couple for a quick pancake breakfast. Of course, I ate a couple of them this morning, too ... : )

But this recipe is for days when a bowl of steaming oatmeal is just a bit too daunting. You know the days: when the air is hot and sultry, kind of like it is 9 months of the year in North Carolina ...

Start with a cup of oats. Throw them in the blender and blend until powdery. Add 1 banana, a tablespoon of flax meal, 1 to 1 1/2 cups of milk (the original calls for vanilla soy milk, but I think there are problems -- especially for men -- with soy products, so I don't recommend it), a drizzle of honey, and 1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter. Whir it up, and the one who gave me the recipe said that you won't be hungry until way past your usual lunchtime.

The Truth About Long-Range Goals

"I think long-range goals are more important earlier on in life. Having a DAILY goal, however, is important EVERY day of your life. Put most of your focus on meeting daily goals. If you hit your daily target day after day, the long-range targets will take care of themselves. One of the difficulties with long-range goals is that you may not be the same person a year from now, or five or ten years from now as you are today. In fact, you may not be the same person today that you were on May 1, 2008 - or January 1, 2008. And this is good because to live means to change, improve and grow."

What a Prosperity Consciousness Looks Like

"Someone with a prosperity consciousness thinks about money the same way a farmer thinks about planting his crops. He looks at money as a "seed" that will yield a harvest. He plants with total faith that each "seed" will bring wealth his way. He thinks about each seed bringing abundance. And he understands that a certain percentage of all that is harvested must be saved, replanted or provided to others to keep the GAME going."

"Seeing is believing"

"Many people today live their entire lives on the basis of "seeing is believing." That is to say, the only images they get emotionally involved with are the ones they can discern with their physical senses. But the individuals of real "vision," down through the ages, have always known the overriding principle is, "what you see is what you get."

Expressed somewhat differently, what this means is that the images in people's minds, actually precede the concrete images, which pervade our material world. Therefore, you should be aware of the fact that the fascinating physical world we see before us, with all of its conveniences for making our lives more comfortable, has been built largely by image-makers - men and women of vision who knew what they could do, and EXPECTED everything else to "fall into place," regardless of what their critics might say to the contrary.

Remember, you will only receive what you truly expect, not what you only wish for."

Vinegar as an Eco-Friendly Solution

"Vinegar" is a common material found in almost every household. It is
a healthy medicinal material on your dining table--an eco solution
for everyone.

Perhaps it is useless to let you know the history of vinegar, but it
may be of interest to some.

According to some historical books, vinegar has been used for over
10,000 years. And no special process is needed to make simple
vinegar. Any liquid that has sugar in it automatically turns to
vinegar when exposed to air.

Some vinegar manufacturers claim that they developed new methods or
something, but there are no significant changes in it. For seasoning
and to preserve foods are the major uses of it.

Do you know where the name vinegar came from? According to my
dictionary, in France, a cask of wine got a crack in it and became
exposed to air. And they uttered "vyn egre", which literally
means "sour wine".

Vinegar is made when aerobic bacteria come in contact with the
alcohol in liquid while exposed to oxygen. This will turn the alcohol
into "acetic acid". This is the acid that you can find in all
vinegars.

Vinegar is a natural food and contains no harmful chemicals or
preservatives as vinegar is a preservative itself.

Vinegar has many beneficial uses, either as a medicinal, or for
cleaning and cooking. It cleans, sanitizes, and deodorizes better
than anything you can find in the market. It can drive away ants,
unwanted insects, including weeds. Vinegar can marinate meat and kill
unwanted bacteria.

Here are some ailments that people use vinegar to help heal:

***Relieve mild arthritis pain, cure a stomachache, dissolving warts,
relieving itching from mosquito or bug bites, soothing sunburn pains,
relieving a sore throat, jellyfish stings.***

Vinegar is very effective for hypertension or high blood pressure. In
fact, I am taking vinegar every day for nearly 20 years now. High
blood pressure caused by overthinking, stress, overwork, and
unbalanced diet, are seldom due to viral infections. Daily intake of
more than 5 ml of vinegar (1 teaspoon) will maintain normal blood
pressure within three months. If you stop taking vinegar, your blood
pressure may rise again. After three months, if you want to reduce or
stop taking vinegar, you may change to pure honey at least 10 ml (2
teaspoons) daily for lifetime.

## QUICK VINEGAR HOME REMEDIES

For upset stomach – Drink two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in one
cup water.

As a Cough Suppressant – Mix with equal parts of honey.

For Dissolving warts – Mix one part of apple cider vinegar to one
part glycerin into a lotion and apply daily to warts until they
dissolve.

For cuts and scrapes, use vinegar as an antiseptic.

Get rid of foot odor by washing your feet well with vinegar.

Clean a hairbrush by soaking in a vinegar solution.

## OTHER VINEGAR TIPS

After washing your face with soap, rinse your face with 2 liters of
water mixed with a tablespoon of vinegar. This way, you don't need to
use any other cosmetics. Your face will be as beautiful as Cleopatra.

Vinegar is a very versatile sanitizer and cleansing agent. Vinegar is
an acid with a low pH, so many germs, molds, and fungus are killed
with it. Vinegar is good for sanitizing kitchen and kitchen
appliances, and bathroom and bathroom fixtures including toothbrushes.

Even automobile can be cleaned. Take note that since vinegar is acid,
some metal objects might rust. You may need rust prevention for such
items.

These are only a few; there are hundreds of applications used by many
even in the health field.

The power of imagination

"Imagine what it would feel like to be so strong, so vigorous, so powerful, and so athletic that the rest of the world stands in awe of your abilities. Imagine when you run down the street or go into a gym to train, everyone stops in his tracks and whispers to a neighbor - 'Hey, check it out. This guy is unreal.' If you're willing to imagine such a thing, you can make it happen. And you make it happen by mixing your intention with the willingness to MOVE toward what you want. He who imagines properly MUST move toward what he wants. If you think you've imagined and you feel you've gotten nowhere - I have news for you. You have only daydreamed. He who imagines with vim, vigor and feeling is propelled into action."

Drug Companies Are Killing You Legally While Robbing You Blind

"The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that drug overdoses killed 33,000 people in 2005, second only to car accidents in the category of accidental deaths. In 1999, the number was 20,000, and in 1990, 10,000 died.

As this excellent commentary in Better Body Journal points out, the huge increase in people dying is not because of a heroin or crack epidemic. These deaths are largely due to prescription drugs.

Consider that 46 percent of Americans take at least one prescription pill daily. Are these drugs really solving all your problems? If so, then why is the pharmaceutical industry growing every single year, with some of the biggest profit margins of any industry?

Big Pharma spent $12.7 billion promoting its products in 1998. The amount has vastly increased since that time. Do you ever get the feeling that you're being sold many of these drugs just to make you think that you're sick with something?

A good portion of the drugs that make up the multi-billion dollar industry of pharmaceuticals are simply doing nothing, if not making us worse. For example, a recent study suggests that anti-depressants only work for the severely depressed. If you're not in that category, then you might as well be taking a sugar pill.

In most cases, Americans are taking more drugs than they need. How about stopping the problems before they start? Take a step back and look at your life. Do you actually have problems, or do you only think you have problems because of a drug commercial?

Dr. Mercola's Comments:
Unfortunately most of the population has been brainwashed to take a pill to feel better. I was reminded of this last week when I had to take a treadmill EKG for an insurance physical. The staff was in utter disbelief that I was not on any medications and they questioned me several times on that.

However, it got worse as I set the record for their facility as no one had ever gone as long on the treadmill as I had. A full fifteen minutes. I could have gone much farther and longer but the machine wasn't designed to go any farther on the Bruce Protocol.

There are times when drugs are necessary, but the bottom line is that most of the time they aren't. And when you get into that mindset that you need a drug to cure what ails you, two things happen.

First, and most obviously, you subject your body to another potentially toxic substance.

Second, and this is more on a subconscious level, it reinforces in your mind that your body cannot heal itself. No, you're telling yourself each time you pop a pill, only these drugs can do that. Which, of course, is a lie. But the more you tell yourself that you need drugs to feel good, the more your body will follow suit. Soon you really will need those pills just to feel normal.

And this is an insult to the immense healing power of your body.

Would You Take Cocaine or Heroin?

I'm guessing most of you reading this would not. After all, recreational drugs, including cocaine and heroin, are responsible for an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 U.S. deaths per year.

Well, an estimated 106,000 hospitalized patients die each year from drugs that, by medical standards, are properly prescribed and properly administered, according to an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

And 2 million more suffer serious side effects.

Taking this a step further, consider the medical error and mortality rate of conventional medicine in this light:

1. The recorded error rate of ICU's is like the post office losing more than 16,000 pieces of mail every hour of every day, or banks deducting 32,000 checks from the wrong bank account every hour, 24/7

2. The recorded medical errors and deaths equate to six jumbo jets falling out of the sky each day, 365 days a year

3. Since 2001, a recorded 490,000 people have died from properly prescribed drugs in the United States, while 2,996 people died on U.S. soil from terrorism, all in the 9/11 attacks; prescription drugs are therefore 16,400 percent more dangerous than terrorism.

4. If deaths from over-the-counter drugs are also included, then drug consumption leaps to being 32,000 percent more dangerous than terrorism. And conventional medicine viewed as a whole is 104,700 percent deadlier than terrorism

With these kinds of odds, do you still think it's worth it to take prescription drugs for problems that lifestyle changes can often resolve?

Most Prescription Drugs are Simply Unnecessary

As much as the drug companies want you to believe that it's normal to take medicine every day, it's not. It is the rare exception that you should ever need to take a drug.

Of course, you should work with your health care provider (preferably a holistic-minded one) in determining which ones are really vital, but I can tell you this: if you are suffering from any one of the following common conditions, drugs are not the answer:

1. Arthritis
2. High cholesterol
3. Cognitive decline
4. Depression
5. Diabetes
6. High blood pressure
7. Osteoporosis

And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Let's spread the word as far as we can. Relying on drugs will never give you the healthy body and mind you desire. What will give you optimal health is a bit of work on your part, to eat healthy, to exercise, to relieve your stress -- all of the things I detail in Take Control of Your Health.

Already, we are making a difference. The drug cartel is slated to have negative growth in 2011 -- for the first time in history!

So let's keep the momentum going. One of the easiest things you can do is to regularly review this newsletter to keep you current on the latest deceptions and frauds the drug companies are trying to get away with, and share it with all of your friends and family so that they're aware of the issues too."
